Does AVD support dual monitors or multiple monitors?

Introduction #

You have installed the Microsoft App Remote Desktop Software and your set-up has more than one monitor. Will it work?

Problem #

You have access to more than one monitor in your office setup and would like to use those monitors with the Microsoft Remote Desktop application for Army AVD access.

Resolution #

Yes. You need to edit your setting before you connect to your selected server. Here are the general directions:

Microsoft Windows #

For Windows do the following:

1. Do no login to your AVD Workspace
2. Select settings
3. Go down to ‘display settings’
4. Click on the drop down and select ‘all displays’
5. Ensure ‘single display when in windowed mode’ is not selected
6. Ensure ‘fit session to window’ is selected

macOS #

For macOS do the following:

1. Do no login to your AVD Workspace
2. Right-click on the server image (either an icon or an image of your last session)
3. Select ‘edit’
4. Clock the box indicating ‘custom settings’
5. Click on ‘use all monitors’ (only use if your MacBook does not automatically extend your display)
6. Click on ‘start session in full screen’ only if that is a preference
