AVD Cannot Open Encrypted Emails

Introduction #

You are set up with the Army AVD workspace and you are accessing your email account.

Problem #

While accessing your email on an Army AVD workspace, you cannot open encrypted emails.

Resolution #

You can only open encrypted mail via the Outlook application while using the Windows Remote Desktop Application. Here the directions to open up an encrypted email.

1. Login to your Army AVD workspace using the Windows Remote Desktop Application
2. Open the Outlook desktop application
3. Locate the encrypted email and open
4. Wait for a dialogue box to open asking for your CAC Pin
5. Once complete, you can view your email

NOTE: You cannot use the AVD web portal to open encrypted email due to the lack of CAC passthrough in the browser environment.
